Andrea Mitchell Fears Benghazi Movie ‘Conspiracy Theories’ Will Hurt Hillary

On her MSNBC show on Monday, host Andrea Mitchell derided the film 13 Hours, opening in theaters nationwide on Friday: “That new film about Benghazi coming out this week could give wider circulation to conspiracy theories, despite denials, that CIA operatives were told to stand down and not rescue four Americans, including an ambassador, who died in that assault.”

Beloved ‘hug lady’ passes away

At Fort Hood, Texas, troops are remembering a very special woman named Elizabeth Laird, and the power of her hugs. She was the beloved “hug lady” and for the last dozen years, Laird was there for them, with open arms. More than half a million of them actually– soldiers from Fort Hood anxiously heading off to war. And some — with the deepest relief imaginable — coming home.”She meant a lot to us. And she had a wonderful, wonderful impact on everybody that she met,” one soldier recalled.Last month, when word got out that Laird was losing her long battle with breast cancer, the troops made it their mission to return the hugs — and to thank the 83-year-old Air Force veteran for her service.Former President George W. Bush sent her a letter.”We are a fortunate nation to have men and women sacrifice for our freedom. Thank you for all you have done at Fort Hood,” it read.Last Tuesday, Laird was honored with a big award for her devotion to the troops. Two days later, on Christmas Eve, she passed away.”She was a smiling face, you know, in a time where people could have possibly been afraid,” one soldier said.Elizabeth Laird, who made the world better with her hugs — would have been 84 next month.original story posted here:…photo credit: CBS News

First-hand Details of the Attack on Benghazi

The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi.13 HOURS presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the thirteen hours of that now-infamous attack.

13 HOURS sets the record straight on what happened during a night that has been shrouded in mystery and controversy. Written by New York Times bestselling author Mitchell Zuckoff, this riveting book takes readers into the action-packed story of heroes who laid their lives on the line for one another, for their countrymen, and for their country.

13 HOURS is a stunning, eye-opening, and intense book…but most importantly, it is the truth. The story of what happened to these men…and what they accomplished…is unforgettable

Meaning-focused coping – looking for the good things in dark times

An interesting take on dealing with chronic pain

HealthSkills Blog

I’ve been reading about ways to increase resilience and help people develop strengths to cope with pain, and came across this blog post on Positive Psychology News where Kathryn Britton reviews several papers by Susan Folkman and others who look at ways of coping.  I’ve posted before on the Lazarus and Folkman model of coping here and here.

Their original model described a path from Appraisal –> Coping –> Outcome –> Emotion, with two outcomes after a harmful or threatening event. The first outcome was simply to favorable resolution and positive emotion. The second outcome, led to an unfavorable resolution and distress, with a loop back to the appraisal process labeled negative emotion.  This model has been updated by Susan Folkman to include the impacts of positive emotion as people deal with unfavorable outcomes.  This is what can be called ‘meaning-focused coping’, which is defined in Britton’s post as

It turns out a Mexican blogger leaked the message after it was sent email encrypted directly to the Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, a prominent ISIS leader. The blogger has intimate ties with actual Sinaloa cartel members, so it looks as if the warning is indeed legit. The three central cartels which move drugs across Mexico, as well as the rest of the world, are The Sinaloa Cartel, The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and Los Zetas. With the Middle East having become a burgeoning scene for cocaine, ecstasy and other party-based drugs, the cartels have been expanding their operational reach to these regions, hoping to heavily profit from the oil industries rich princes and wealthy businessmen who have been fueling the growing nightlife scene. ISIS. As drugs are not a part of the organizations ideology for a Muslim State, ISIS fighters have been destroying shipments of drugs from the cartels. The cartels have made it clear that ISIS just made a huge mistake by destroying their shipments. It’s clear from the leaked emails that they are not only extremely mad, but are definitely willing to step up and take the organization out if they continue to mess with their business. Here’s part of the leaked email: “You [ISIS] are not soldiers. You are nothing but lowly p*ssies. Your god cannot save you from the true terror that my men will levy at you if you continue to impact my operation.” “My men will destroy you. The world is not yours to dictate. I pity the next son of a wh*re that tries to interfere with the business of the Sinaloa Cartel. I will have their heart and tongue torn from them.” It looks like it’s on. It would be ironic that the group who ends up taking out ISIS is El Chapo’s drug cartel! They seem up to the task and it could be worth giving immunity to this guy in exchange for him and his boys taking out ISIS once and for all! Like us on

Not to be left out of our list of ‘religious’ charities promoting open borders and more Syrian Muslim refugees is the American Friends Service Committeeand the Friends Committee on National Legislation.  As far as we know they don’t have their greedy fingers in the federal treasury like the nine federal contractorsdo, but they can be counted on to push for anything the No borders Left wants on immigration.

It’s kind of hard these days to find a church or a synogogue at which to worship that hasn’t been taken over by the Left!
